Things to Consider When You Buy Wigs

There are different kinds of wigs. Yes, you must know about their differences, but it’s even more important that you find out what type looks best on you.

Here are the things you need to consider before buying a wig.

Wig Length

How long do you want your new hair to be?

Wigs come in different lengths, from as short as 8 inches to as long as 30 inches.

In thinking which length to choose, determine the purpose of the wig and take a look at your present lifestyle and environment.

Are you planning to use the wig every day? Are you only going to use it for special occasions?

Long hair pieces are perfect for looking glamorous. They also give more styling options. Short wigs are better for humid areas because just like with real hair, it feels fresher and lighter to have short locks. Short wigs are also easier to maintain.

Wig Texture

Do you like straight hair? Or do you think waves suit you better? How about curly hair?

Hair pieces can also give you options when it comes to hair texture. Like bio hair, wigs can also be straight, wavy, curly, or afro. You can stay close to your natural hair texture, or you can go for a different one. It’s completely up to you.

Wig Colour

When it comes to wig colour, you can choose whatever you want. Go for fun, bright colours if you want to spice things up. Or if you’re planning to make your wig part of your daily life, you could get a natural-coloured one. I have many clients who buy wigs to look exactly like their own hair, you can send me a picture and I can copy any colour and style in human hair.

Wig Cap Size

The size of your wig can also make a big difference. It’s best to get a wig with a cap size that suits you well.

That’s because when a wig doesn’t fit, it’s uncomfortable to wear and can look unnatural.

The standard wig cap size is Medium, which has a circumference of about 21.5 inches. If you cant fit the wig itself, you can measure the size of your head using a measuring tape.

Place the measuring tape around your head, starting from the front of your hairline, behind your ear, to the nape, to your other ear, and back to the front hairline.

Silk Wig Cap

The wigs that are made of silk base caps and hair are called silk base wigs. The silk wig cap is the most realistic wig cap on the market today. Silk base wigs also known as Silk top wigs are when knots are hidden by a layer of lace and silk fabric on the top front of the cap. When the hair is knotted, the knots are below the silk concealed between the layers, the hair is then injected through the silk material making the knots 100% invisible, giving the illusion that the hair is growing out of your scalp. This is my personal fav type of wig right now.

Pros Of Silk Wig Caps:

The silk-based wig lasts longer as compared to the lace wigs. This is due to its thicker and Sturdier base.

Taking care of a Silk base wig does not require any form of specialty or special procedures, and this is because they might look delicate, but they are strong. If you are going to use your wig often, you don’t have to always bother about monthly repairs.

Also, you can add a lace front onto a silk top but if you don’t I have had lots of clients who like this better as they say their eye goes towards the hair line of a lace front but here with the silk the hair just sprouts out of your hairline in a very natural way, no lace.

FULL lace wig

The full lace wig is made of a full lace wig cap and hair. The full lace wig cap is made of a full lace closure, and the hair is hand-tied. I must mention FULL lace wigs, I have to say they are more expensive due to the work that goes into hand tying each hair into the full lace cap. But it is worth the price because it is so comfortable and breathable in summer and winter. I have no FULL lace cap wigs in stock but I can make you one if you drop me a message.

Pros Of Full Lace Wig Caps:

Natural-looking hairline: When you shop for lace front wigs you can be assured that it will be your secret – no one else has to know! The sheer material blends against your skin to create the appearance of a natural hairline. Full lace wigs are among the highest quality and very light weight.

Natural-looking: Because each hair is hand-tied, the hair will move naturally.

Lace wigs cap

A lace top is just as it sounds! The cap of the wig has a lace lining in which individual hairs are tied.

Lace tops are best for people who have complete hair loss or alopecia, have receding hairlines, want to wear a completely different hair colour than their own, or just want more styling or parting options.

Pros for Lace Top Wigs:

The lace is a more breathable fabric compared to silk, as there are holes that allow for air circulation, which makes it is a great summer piece. Furthermore, lace is able to create a more natural sparse hairline that gradually gets thicker.

Finally, lace wigs are made with either single layer of lace or double layer of lace. Each layer is a super fine material (similar width as a piece of paper), and so lace usually lays flatter on the head compared to silk. Some think this creates a more natural looking hairline!

I find that the world is divided on which is ´best´ silk or lace. Which do you prefer?
